The Experience

Camping with South Wales DA is relaxed, friendly and informal.

Our meets bring people together in great locations to enjoy good company and shared experiences.

Group of people sitting in chairs outdoors on a grassy field, gathered around a speaker, with RVs and an old stone bridge in the background.
Crowd of people enjoying an outdoor event with camping trailers and Union Jack flags, under a partly cloudy sky.
People standing along a rocky riverbank with trees and a blue sky with clouds in the background.

We offer a welcoming and easygoing way to enjoy camping in South Wales, with meets held throughout the year.

What it’s like

Plenty of space to relax and settle in

  • A friendly atmosphere without any pressure

  • People chatting, helping out, and getting to know each other

  • Easy to be as social or as private as you like

Some people arrive knowing no one and leave having made friends. Others simply enjoy the space and quiet. Both are equally part of the experience.

The Social Side

A large outdoor gathering with many people sitting on chairs at tables, celebrating on a grassy field decorated with red, white, and blue flags and balloons, with caravans and a cloudy sky in the background.
People gathered outdoors in a grassy field, sitting on camping chairs near parked caravans, enjoying a sunny day with a blue sky and scattered clouds, with hills in the background.
Sunset over a grassy field with people playing and socializing, trees in the background, and clouds in the sky.

There is often more going on than you might expect, especially on longer meets.

  • Informal chats around the field

  • Group gatherings where everyone is welcome

  • Marquee socials on some meets and THSs

  • Organised activities at certain events, particularly bank holidays

You are welcome to join in, but there is no pressure.

A mix of people

You will find a real mix on site:

  • Families enjoying time outdoors

  • Couples getting away for the weekend

  • Solo campers who quickly feel part of things

  • Members visiting from other District Associations

It is a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable.

A different feel at every meet

A sandy beach with a few people walking or sitting, a grassy area with some bushes in the foreground, a calm ocean, and a distant pier and town under a clear blue sky.
People gathered at tables in a decorated restaurant for a holiday celebration, with Christmas garlands and ornaments hanging from the ceiling.
Group of people celebrating at a birthday party with a backdrop that reads 'South Wales DA Happy Birthday' and gold balloons.

Each meet has its own character, shaped by the location and time of year.

From coastal sites like Porthcawl and Fontygary to quieter countryside locations, no two meets feel exactly the same.

That variety is part of what keeps people coming back.

New to this?

If it’s your first time, you will not be the only one.

Most people find it easier than expected. A simple hello often leads to a conversation, and before long you feel part of things.

If you prefer to keep things quiet, that is just as welcome.

About our regions

The Club’s District Associations are grouped into 12 regions, covering Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Each region organises a wide range of camping opportunities, including meets and Temporary Holiday Sites.

An elected representative from each region, District Association and Special Interest Section sits on the Club’s National Council, the governing body that makes policy decisions on behalf of members.
