Camping with South Wales DA

Camping with South Wales District Association (SWDA) is relaxed, friendly and informal. We welcome caravans, motorhomes, tents and trailer tents, depending on the site and ground conditions. Our meets bring members together to enjoy great locations, good company and shared experiences.

Whether you are attending for the first time or have been camping with District Associations for years, you will always find a warm welcome with South Wales DA.

“Simple, social camping. No fuss.”

New to DA Camping?

No need to worry. It’s simple. Just turn up and say hello, you’ll be made welcome.

Most of our meets are turn up and camp. Just arrive on site, speak to the steward, show your membership card and they will guide you to your pitch.

Some meets do need to be booked in advance. This will always be clearly shown on the event listing, so please check before travelling.

Then just set up, put the kettle on and enjoy your stay.

Arriving on Site

When you arrive in the area, please look out for our yellow SWDA signs, which will guide you to the meet location.

These are usually attached to lampposts or other posts at normal reach height, so they are easy to spot when approaching the site.

Once on site, look for the steward’s flag, which will be displayed outside their unit, and check in.

The steward will check your membership card and guide you to a suitable pitching area.

If you are unsure about anything, just ask. Stewards and fellow campers are always happy to help.

Pitching Up

After checking in with the steward, you will be directed to a suitable place to pitch your unit.

Spacing between units is important for safety, so please follow any guidance given on site.

Once you are set up, you can relax, meet your neighbours, and enjoy the atmosphere of DA camping.

Facilities

Most District Association meets take place on temporary sites such as fields, showgrounds or club venues.

Facilities are usually basic. In most cases there are no toilets, showers or electric hook-ups, so you will need to be self-sufficient. Most campers, however, find it far more comfortable and straightforward than they expect.

Fresh drinking water and a toilet waste disposal point will always be available.

Some venues may offer additional facilities such as electric hook-up, hardstanding pitches, or toilet and shower blocks, so it is always worth checking the event details in advance.

Social Camping

One of the best parts of camping with a District Association is the friendly atmosphere.

Many meets include social evenings, themed gatherings or opportunities to explore the surrounding area with other campers. Some members enjoy joining in with organised activities, while others simply relax and enjoy the peaceful setting.

There is no pressure to take part in everything. You can be as social or as quiet as you like.

Visitors from Other DAs

Members from any District Association are always welcome at South Wales DA meets.

Just bring your membership card and join us. Visitors from across the region and beyond regularly attend, and you will always feel welcome.
